Gianluca Gustin

Gianluca Gustin, based in Trieste (Italy), is a Senior CFD Engineer at the Naval Architecture Department of Fincantieri Merchant Ship Business Unit since 2013.
In this role, he actively participates in the design of the hulls and propellers as well as aerodynamic design of the vessels. The team has the goal to design and deliver hulls and propellers, improving as far as possible their efficiency, while meeting the contractual and
Rules & Regulations requirements. With this aim, he participates in the experimental tests (in model basin and wind tunnel) and sea trials, where he is in charge of the manoeuvring and speed trial tests.
Part of Gianluca’s role is to study and implement new numerical solutions into the design process.
Gianluca participates and manages several research projects (both internal and funded projects). In this context, he has co-authored some papers on the application of Reduced Order Model and Parametric Model Embedding in the numerical optimisation process.
